Updates coming soon for Volunteer team
With mixed emotions, Camp Blue Skies announces the retirement of Alison Barry, our dedicated Volunteer Director, after 14 years of service. Alison volunteered at our first two camps for adults with developmental disabilities and became Volunteer Director in 2012.
“Alison's ability to connect with people and inspire them to become part of our mission has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said founder Dick Sesler. “She recruited volunteers and nurtured these relationships, transforming them into long-term commitments. Her dedication and genuine care for each volunteer have created a sense of camaraderie that defines the spirit of Camp Blue Skies.”
Alison’s plans include spending more time with family (including planning a wedding) and traveling with her husband, Bradford. She will stay on in a consulting capacity through March.
Christina Orr is stepping up to be our new Volunteer Director for all of our camps after nearly a year of working closely with Alison on volunteer recruiting and outreach. “Christina brings years of recruiting experience to the table and has been a key player in developing new relationships with corporate partners and universities,” said Kim Conroy, executive director.
Another change in the Volunteer recruiting team is that Mallie Bragg, our Georgia Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator, recently accepted an opportunity to work with Georgia Options, an organization in Athens that provides various services to people with developmental disabilities. While we are sad that Mallie is leaving Camp Blue Skies, we are excited about her new professional opportunity. We are grateful that she plans to stay personally connected to Camp Blue Skies by volunteering.
