Camp Blue Skies Opens 2026 Season with Two Successful Georgia Sessions

For two weeks this March, Camp Blue Skies’ Georgia programs were filled with the moments our campers, volunteers, and staff wait for all year long. Campers reconnected with lifelong friends, first-time campers found their place, volunteers stepped up with joy and patience, and caregivers experienced respite knowing their loved one was having an amazing week at camp.

Our Georgia Camp and Williams Syndrome Camp sessions welcomed a combined 141 campers, supported by more than 100 cabin counselors, day volunteers, volunteer nurses, and program partners who helped bring the experience to life. Both of our Georgia Camp sessions had a waitlist, which reflects the continued need for opportunities like these.

Across both weeks, campers jumped into dance parties, ziplining, giant swing, waterfront activities, karaoke, crafts, improv, and one of this year’s newest additions: groundwork with horses. Campers had the opportunity to brush, feed, and lead horses through the beautiful camp arena, creating moments that built confidence, trust, emotional connection, and plenty of smiles.

Improv also quickly became a camper favorite. Whether stepping on stage for the first time or making an entire cabin laugh, campers were encouraged to take creative risks, express themselves, and have fun together.

Behind the scenes, the weeks were powered by an extraordinary volunteer team. Camp Blue Skies welcomed volunteers from Kennesaw State University, Georgia Southern University, West Georgia Technical College, Emory University, and the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors. Many of these students and professionals served side-by-side with veteran volunteers, helping create an environment where campers felt supported, encouraged, and celebrated every day.

Most importantly, caregivers told us what we always hope to hear: their loved ones came home more confident, more connected, and already asking when they could come back.
